Professional Experience

     Youngstown State University – IT Infrastructure Services                                                   Youngstown, OH

Systems Technician 1 – Full time                                                                                                      Jan 2023 – Present

Installs, tests, configures server hardware, software, applications, and storage (SANs).

Maintains precise documentation regarding updates and changes made to systems and resulting functionality in TeamDynamix and SharePoint.

Monitors technical services and hardware using network monitoring appliances (CheckMK, GrayLog, Cisco Prime) while in use to quickly respond and resolve issues.

Primarily responsible for the provisioning and maintaining of non-patron accounts in YSU’s IDM environment.

Troubleshoots identity management issues between all levels on large and small scale.

Maintains and updates ID badge access for ITS staff and others on an as needed basis.

Works closely with Information Security to maintain IS ‘best practices’ to increase YSU’s IT security posture overall on changes made to new/old information systems.

Tests InTune devices for use in production.

Technology Support Technician 1 – Full time                                                                               Aug 2022 – Jan 2023

Installs, configures, tests, and maintains classroom technology hardware/software and related using standard methods/tools.

Consults with clients over the phone and in-person as needed to meet Quality of Service requirements of the university.

Performs technology problem diagnosis/resolution for technologies including (but not limited to): Windows, Mac, Linux, IOS, Android, Audiovisual equipment, data input/output devices, network and telecommunications equipment and connectivity, etc.

Maintained many responsibilities of a systems administrator, many of which are listed in my previous student position.

Put forth a ‘Security First’ mindset on projects, tickets, and all issues coming into the IT Service Desk and beyond.

Acts as escalated support at the service desk to perform higher level support to other service desk technicians and student workers.

Assists architects, engineers, technicians, and student workers to provide support when necessary.

Mentors and exercises supervision of student employees.

Student Systems Administrator - Internship                                                                                  May 2021- Aug 2022

Take responsibility for escalated tickets from lower tier IT technical support.

Monitor, document, and appropriately elevate potential or imminent security concerns to the Director, IT Security Services, or delegated team member and assist as needed in any necessary remediation actions. 

Create and manage AD/O365 groups, teams, and emails for various departments and organizations on campus.

Investigate and mitigate user account issues between all identity management systems at YSU.

Perform audits on potentially compromised accounts and act based upon observed account activity.

Configure network settings and troubleshoot network connectivity issues hands on with PCs, personal mobile devices, layer 2 and 3 switches, access points, patch panels, and a variety of IoT devices.

Edit ACLs and manage IP/Domain/URL blocklists using Proofpoint Threat Response and Palo Alto Firewalls.

Led re-designing effort for the IT Security webpage on YSU’s main website.

Took primary responsibility on testing and implementation of multi-factor authentication within M365/Azure to student and staff accounts across campus.

Collaborates directly with IT architects, engineers, and technicians to complete departmental projects and gain exposure to new systems and tools used within IT infrastructure as noted above.

IT Service Desk Student Assistant – Part time                                                                             Aug 2019 – May 2021

Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.

Led process evaluation efforts and implemented improvements to existing IT processes.

Installed, upgraded, implemented, and configured endpoint operating systems, software, hardware, and VOIP phones.

Gained exposure to higher tiers of IT work, working with IT Infrastructure, IT Business Applications, and Information Security departments to complete tasks and projects.
